How To Drive Site Traffic with Instagram

Build a base of Instagram followers so interactive that they take on a life of their own. Your posted content as the platform for these interactions. At the press of a button, you’ll be able to drive a wave of highly qualified traffic to wherever you want, through the link in your bio.

The Solution

Engagement. Engagement. Engagement. Cultivate a large, active following by maximizing the output of content that spurs engagement with your posts from your followers. For a given post, the closer the number of likes/views/comments to your total number of followers, the better. That, my friends, is engagement.

Have conversations with your followers through visual and verbal content. Bring your account to life! Post the content that your brand’s persona would post if it were a real person. Be funny, sassy,  or knowledgeable through memes, GIFs, photos, videos, and through your responses to comments.

The Reality Check

It’s not enough to have a brand voice. Your brand’s Instagram account should be somebody. Preferably, someone spicy like whoever runs the Wendy’s Twitter account.

If you have a ton of followers and they aren’t engaging with your content, what do you really have? Nada.

“What if we lose followers?” You may lose some followers, but the followers you keep will be the more active bunch. That’s the desired outcome. It’s not about the number of followers you have; it’s about the percentage of your followers that seize the opportunity to interact with your brand every time you post.

If your brand identity doesn’t allow for humor/wit and the aforementioned dream scenario is appealing to you, change your brand identity to at least allow for cleverness. Luxury brands, I’m talking to you especially.

The Practical

Curate conversation-starting content that is thematically in line with your brand’s soul and intricately weave that into your editorial calendar alongside content directly about your brand.

Ask for your follower’s input frequently, including content that requires them to visit the link in your bio to form their opinion. That translates to free, on-demand site traffic, which is the goal.
