If you run a growth org, you’ve probably had this moment: Sales is pushing for more pipeline, finance is pushing for better margins, ops is warning about fulfillment and support load, and brand is begging you not to flood the market with weird creative that breaks trust. Then someone walks in and says, “Also… AI can make infinite ads now.”

That is basically Hollywood in 2025, just with bigger budgets, louder unions, and more lawyers.

Disney’s newly announced three-year agreement with OpenAI includes a $1 billion equity investment and a licensing deal that lets Sora generate short fan-made videos using more than 200 Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars characters. Disney also becomes a major OpenAI customer, using APIs to build products and deploying ChatGPT internally. Importantly, Disney says the agreement does not include talent likenesses or voices, which is a very deliberate line in the sand given recent labor fights.

For businesses outside Hollywood, this deal matters because it’s a high-profile example of something most companies will eventually face:
