Hawke Star Tammy Yang

Each month, Hawke Media names one of its own to be HawkeStar, which is our take on employee-of-the-month. Those chosen to be HawkeStar embody the company values, which are:

  • Get sh*t done
  • Learn quickly
  • Be cool

We highlight each month’s HawkeStar, because those who embody these values deserve recognition from their peers.  Here are some words from Tammy Yang, this month’s HawkeStar:

Q: How long have you been with Hawke? What’s your title?

A: I started on May 10, 2021 so on Wednesday (Nov 10), I officially hit 6 months with Hawke as a Partnerships Manager, East Coast!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your background!

A: I’m an LA native now living in NYC. And as a typical Angeleno, I started my career in the entertainment industry. Before working on the Partnerships Team at Hawke, I was at Variety, a trade media publication, where I built and deepened strategic media/event partnerships with major industry events/festivals, guilds, and non-profit organizations.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of working with your team at Hawke?

A: What makes the Partnerships Team at Hawke so special is how cohesive we are. I believe our team is able to thrive because of the level of trust, support, and respect we share with one another.

Q: You received this award for many reasons, one of them being that you are a fantastic team player! What do you think goes into nurturing successful relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners?

A: A successful partnership is one that provides values, so first and foremost I think it’s really important to listen. When you listen, you learn about what really drives value for a partner and follow through by providing it.

Q: Now that you’re an accomplished HawkeStar, what do you see for yourself next in this company?

A: I want to continue to elevate the Partnerships Team as a trusted resource for our entire partnership network. I’m also really committed to increasing the value of our team as a whole through curating more strategic partnerships and continuously improving finding new ways to make processes more efficient.
