What It Means to Give Back at Hawke Media
During this time of year, it’s important to remember that there are those less fortunate who rely on the spirit of giving. It’s more than a cliché, it helps us realize what we’re grateful for and even further exercises our ability to empathize.
Hawke Media has an undying dedication to service in and around our community to help those people (and animals) that could use some assistance. There are so many valuable things that we can offer our community, offering money, time, skills, and goods are all meaningful ways to support the betterment of your community.
We don’t publicize our efforts for notoriety, rather we hope to inspire the next person who comes across this to seek out opportunities where you are to share what you have to offer. Here are a few ways we’ve given back in 2019:
Take a Puppy, Leave a Smile
At Hawkefest 2019 we partnered with Found Animals to offer attendees the opportunity to leave with something more meaningful that swag. We offered them the opportunity to leave with their hearts full as well as their hands by adopting a puppy.
Partnering with Found Animals was a no-brainer. Their organization and willingness to contribute to a cause both of our organizations hold dear helped Hawkefest offer a one-of-a-kind experience while helping to find homes for man’s best friend.
It’s they’re mission and they do it really well:
- People have given over 137,000 volunteer hours
- From abandoned or donated animals, 3,200,000 pets have been spayed/neutered
- Over $15,000,000 have been awarded in grants and prize money
- They’ve raised almost $3,000,000 in their savings pet challenge
- Over 20,000 pets have been adopted
Kids are the Future. We Help Them Realize It
It was a simple gesture. Hawke Media donated 10% of ticket sales to the Orphaned Starfish Foundation (OSF), a non-profit organization that gives vulnerable and at-risk children access to technology, education, and job training.
Through technology-based education, job training, and job placement assistance, OSF helps victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children, and at-risk youth learn valuable professions and give them support to make a new life for themselves in competitive industries.
In fact, the OSF is already serving over 13,000 children with 62 technology center in 27 countries. They provide services throughout Latin America, South America, Central Africa, the Caribbean islands, Southeastern Asia, and there are several new countries joining the movement every year.
Conclusion
There are so many people and organizations doing great work in our communities locally and globally. To their credit, they make it easy for us to help others in need by supporting their efforts.
If you are able to, you should consider giving back. No one made it to where they are alone, and to be the one that lends the hand to lift someone (or some pup) up could mean everything to them.
And just wait to see what we have in store for Hawkefest 2020!
